School Shootings Social Justice Poster

Introduction

School shootings plague America weekly. While people may be aware of shootings occurring fairly often, many forget that there are more shootings than what they see on the news. Many innocent kids are dying each month just because of one person's inability to manage their gun properly. Our goal was to create a poster that raises awareness for this topic and a spark in the community for change.

This poster was a combination of a Cole Churosh portrait picture and a Colt .45 gun. I took the gun and cut it out from its original image. I put a neon blue border around it and made the inside transparent. I then layered this outline with another picture of the same thing just with a red border instead of blue. I took a duplicate of the portrait and removed the red color channel so that it would create a cool overlapping red and blue effect. I then took little rectangles out from the portrait and offset them to make it seem more like a glitch. I came up with the phrase "Schools aren't shooting ranges" specifically for this poster and picked out a good font which was then corrected by Mr. Davis. I like how all the colors tie into one another and I think the poster turned out good. The poster did not turn out how we imagined it at all, but we really like it.
